The market for plant-based products has officially exploded and vegan food production in the U.S. is now worth billions of dollars. Keep an eye out for these new plant-based start-ups:

Pure Grit BBQ

Pure Grit BBQ is a plant-based, gluten-free, fast-casual BBQ joint coming soon to NYC. Unfortunately, they had to postpone their grand opening due to COVID-19, but they remain as passionate and committed as ever to BBQ FOR ALL. You can check out their online shop for the rubs, sauces, gear and merchandise you need to BBQ from home. Until then, you can enjoy some of their recipes that appeal to all palettes, from home! You can also follow them on Instagram and Youtube @puregritbbq for recipes that you can make in big kitchens and small, outside or inside.

Laiki® Rice Crackers

Laiki® Rice Crackers were born from a collective frustration: “Why do gluten-free crackers have to be popped, puffed, or taste like cardboard?” Laiki wanted a worry-free snack made from simple ingredients that was full of flavor and packed a satisfying crunch. So Laiki® Rice Crackers were created!

The secret to Laiki’s taste is black and red rice from Thailand. Black and red rices pack more nutrients and flavor than white or brown rice. By keeping the ingredients to a minimum, all the flavor you get in every crunchy bite comes from the wholegrain rice itself. Laiki® Rice Crackers are a labor of love: a love of food, a love of snacking, and a love for sharing.

Foodnerd

Foodnerd, a woman-owned vegan food manufacturing company, has officially launched OverNights – the first ever raw and sprouted overnight breakfast product on the market. OverNights are named for how they’re prepared. Simply add a non-dairy milk alternative, shake, and leave in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, simply stir and enjoy.

Customers can select a base (Sprouted Oats or Sprouted Chia Pudding) as well as flavor (Cinnamon Apple, Chocolate Goji Berry, Coconut Fig, Strawberry Plum, and Wild Blueberry Banana). More flavors are being released soon!

OverNights differ from existing overnight oats products because Foodnerd harvests sprouts at the beginning of their growth phase and never treats ingredients with chemicals or high heat that degrades nutrients. This process allows the overnight oats and chia puddings to maintain highly concentrated and beneficial nutrients that are typically lost in traditional food processing.
