Mayor Eric Adams has issued a MeatOut Day proclamation for March 20, 2022 throughout New York City.

New York City joins Houston and Dallas, Texas, Charlotte and Durham, North Carolina, Columbus, Georgia, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Madison, Wisconsin in proclaiming MeatOut Day.

Since 1985, MeatOut exemplifies the work of Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) by bringing awareness to the benefits of a plant-based diet while educating people on the environmental benefits and impact on farmed animals.

A special March 20th event is planned at P.S. Kitchen, located at 246 W 48th Street, with a celebration of the proclamation continuing through March 25th.

New York City has consistently ranked in the top tier of cities with vegan and plant-based options. In addition to the proclamation and the P.S. Kitchen event, other MeatOut events are planned citywide. Mayor Adams personally bestos the health benefits of a plant-based diet and changed the course of his own health bringing readers along with him in the informative and honest book, Healthy At Last.

“As a New Yorker myself, I am particularly proud of this proclamation,” said Eric C Lindstrom, Executive Director of FARM. “The advances Mayor Adams has made toward a plant-based future, and Vegan Fridays in New York City schools, align perfectly with our mission and the mission of MeatOut.”

For nearly four decades MeatOut has reached a global audience through educational events and plant-based food sampling.

Consumers are increasingly switching to plant-based foods because of their concerns about health, the environment, and animal welfare issues. Consumer and animal protection advocates in seven hundred communities in all 50 states and 24 other countries welcome spring on March 20th with educational events promoting plant-based eating.

Similar proclamations have been issued in the past by hundreds of mayors and the governors of nearly 40 additional states. For more information visit MeatOut.org.
